The 21st Century has seen some great advancements in the technology of the home PC. DVD burners are standard in most new computers which spells bad news for all those DVD projects that don't have any type of copy protection.
In 2005 the British Video Association studied the effects of DVD piracy on the film industry. The results were shocking. How PROTECT-R Works
Once we receive your Master DVD-R, we create an ISO (short for ISO 9660, an international standard devised for storing data to disks) which is an all-inclusive file of the disk.
PROTECT-R then encapsulates the ISO file with a small, passive piece of software. (less than 1MB in size)
The original DVD audio and video files are not encoded in any way, so playback quality is unaffected.
The encapsulated ISO is burnt with a proprietary burning programme and the finished product is a copy-protected DVD-R master disk.
DVD players read the disk normally because PROTECT-R is put on a section of the disk not read by DVD players.
PROTECT-R makes DVD ripping software think that the disk is empty, so the process is unsuccessful.
